# How to create additional termination reasons?

Termination reasons are a required field when wanting to terminate an employee. Examples of termination reasons are layoff, retirement, and abandoned position.

To start, navigate to the settings page found in the navigation bar on the left hand side. You can find 'create a termination reason' underneath the Organization section. Alternatively you can type 'create a termination reason' in the search bar to find the page.

Once there, you simply need to type in the reason and select the create termination reason button.

Now you are able to select this reason when you are terminating a user.
