How to create a time off policy?

A time off policy defines the business rules on how to calculate the allowance of a particular time off type for an employee.

To create a time off policy, first you need to navigate to the time settings by clicking on the settings module in the navigation bar. Scroll down until you see the time off policy option as seen in the picture below. Then click the 'create a time off policy' button.

This takes you to the create time off policy page where there are different fields that you need to fill out.

Fields:

  • Name: The name of the time-off policy.
  • Description: The description of the time-off policy. Along with any relevant details.

In addition to these fields you can see a list of each  time-off type with a drop down button next to it. Click the drop down and select the 'add threshold' button for a particular type to begin adding the policy.

Create Threshold Fields:

  • Amount of Days Allowed at Threshold: How many days will this person be allowed for this time off type.
  • Threshold Time Type: Are you counting for how many months have passed or how many years have passed?
  • Time Till Threshold Reached: If you selected years for the previous field, this number will represent the amount of years that need to pass before the person is given the days allotted.

After filling in the required fields, press the 'add' button to have the change pending. You can add as many thresholds as you want per time-off type.

Next, press the 'create' button to make your changes go live. Once you have created the policy, that button will change to 'update' and will serve to update the policy with whatever new changes you would have made.
